What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performance Analyst position at Ethic?
What you’ll do:
As a Performance Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing the performance of Ethic's investment portfolios and identifying the drivers of returns. You will use quantitative methods to measure the impact of various factors on portfolio performance, including investment strategies, asset allocation, and market conditions. You will work closely with data teams to investigate data integrity, with product teams to enhance reporting products and with portfolio managers to understand performance drivers and improve the investment process.
More specifically you will:
- Develop and implement performance attribution models to measure the impact of different factors/allocations on portfolio returns, both direct index equity portfolios and multi-asset model portfolios
- Investigate data integrity issues and take ownership of the performance reporting deliverables.
- Become a source of performance, attribution and system knowledge, providing guidance and expertise to business partners.
- Analyze portfolio performance data to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations to the Investment Strategy team.
- Conduct in-depth research on investment strategies and asset classes.
- Prepare comprehensive performance reports for internal and external stakeholders, including visualizations using tools.
- Be a lead on managing Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®) composite maintenance, verification, and audits for Ethic.
- Take ownership of broader investment related reporting projects such as developing after-tax reporting metrics.
- Be a self-starter seeking depth of knowledge into data quality, flows, and relevant systems and tools.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify and address performance risks.
- Feel comfortable interacting independently on projects and owning internal relationships.
- Work in a dynamic team environment with diverse approaches and thinking styles.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 2-6 years of experience in performance/investment analysis or a similar role.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel and statistical software.
- Not required but nice to have are experience in a GIPS-compliant environment, familiarity with reporting tools such as Orion or Advent and any SQL or other coding experience.
- Experience with performance attribution tools and data science techniques is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong interpersonal interaction capabilities. Not required but nice to have experience preparing client/board facing presentations.

Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation at Ethic is a combination of base salary, equity (stock options) in the company, and benefits.
The base salary for this role will range from $110,000-140,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
