Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses—one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the other in Manhattan.

Ethical Culture Fieldston School is looking for qualified Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches for our Varsity, JV, and Middle School teams.
Sports currently offered at ECFS: Football, Field Hockey, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Boys Tennis, Cross Country, Water Polo, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Swimming, Squash, Ice Hockey, Baseball, Softball, Girls Lax, Boys Lax, Track, Golf, and Ultimate. The applicant will have knowledge of any sport listed above and the ability to teach fundamental skills, tactics and strategies of the game to ECFS students. Prior playing and coaching experience is preferred.
Our program competes in the IVY Preparatory School League, The Athletic Association of Independent Schools of NYC, and is a member of the New York State Association of Independent Schools. The school has fielded a highly competitive program for many years and continues to strive for excellence in its coaches and players.
This is a seasonal part-time position that begins with pre-season practice as required per seasonal calendar. The candidate should be available during the week in the late afternoons.
Responsibilities:
- Develop effective job coaching
- Communicate with students to understand their goals and ambitions
- Assist students to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals
- Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to use them effectively
- Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks
- Help in the development of motivation and skills
- Monitor and evaluate progress of students
- Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports
Requirements:
- Proven job experience as a coach
- Experience in working with students 6-12
- Ability to adhere to regulations and standards
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving ability
- Respect and appreciation for diversity in all of its forms
- Ability to inspire and motivate
- The ability to to listen effectively and be receptive to feedback
