Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the other in Manhattan.

Position Summary
Ethical Culture Fieldston School seeks a full-time Data Systems Specialist whose work could be categorized as systems integrator/database administrator/data analyst. The primary responsibility will be supporting students, faculty, staff, families, and alumni with the school’s academic/business systems.
This position joins a talented technology team at an exciting time of change at ECFS. We are looking for an enthusiastic hardworking individual who will support an all school innovative approach to changing technology. The ideal candidate will help streamline the management of many systems, including data migration, to ensure accurate lists, enrollments, and directories. This position will report to the Associate Director of Data Systems Technology.
The hiring range for this position is $70,000-$90,000. When determining the salary for an offer, ECFS considers factors including, but not limited to: the scope and responsibilities of the position, internal peer equity, key skills required for the role, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as market and organizational considerations.
Please note that this is an onsite role and not performed remotely. Ethical Culture Fieldston School retains its right to modify job duties in accordance with changing operational needs.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities of the Data Systems Specialist will include:
Supporting, managing and maintaining the systems and data integration procedures and processes required for sharing of data between various School systems and other related data sources;
Designing, coding and implementing solutions to collect, extract and present data for key stakeholders; Creating output and input file formats, exports, imports as required by external agencies or members of school staff as directed;
Working with internal and external teams in maintaining and supporting the school’s Google environment;
Working collaboratively with the wider tech teams in contributing to strategic goals;
Data entry into various systems;
Developing and implementing training and documentation for applications;
Assisting in task planning, estimation and scheduling of software migrations;
Generating management and academic reports as required using current technology;
Managing and liaising with School leadership and Department Chairs for scheduling and academic reports including inputs of outcomes and other data in preparation for academic reports;
Providing database and information source related support to the user community and support technicians;
Providing feedback to users when database and data source related incidents are resolved or investigated;
Communicating database related system changes to the user community.;
Data mapping across multiple data sources;
Providing customer support and troubleshooting with users (students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, others);
Fostering positive relationships with team members and various stakeholders;
Performing other related duties, tasks, and projects as assigned.
Position Requirements
The successful incumbent will possess:
A Bachelor's Degree;
Previous experience in school learning management and information systems would be highly desirable;
The ability to work with and support SQL databases;
Strong knowledge of programming languages (Javascript, SQL, Python, R);
Experience in website frontend and backend development and design;
Strong knowledge of data analytics technologies including Power BI, Google Looker Studio, Tableau;
Previous use of AI & machine learning experience.API-based integrations;
Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research and statistical analysis;
Knowledge of data integrity principles and techniques;
The ability to interpret data models and understand complex relational databases;
Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate initiatives, facilitate discussions and present to various levels of stakeholders;
Capability to handle confidential material with discretion and possess the highest degree of integrity;
Excellent ability to resolve technical and programmatic issues of a complex nature;
A willingness to learn and embrace new ideas and procedures and a consistent initiative to help streamline processes and improve efficiencies;
Must be highly detailed oriented, organized and resourceful;
The ability to work collaboratively in group settings, as well as independently, to meet project goals and team needs;
Confidence in the ability to stay calm in stressful situations that may arise;
A deep respect and appreciation for diversity in all of its forms;
Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance; and
