Do you want to impact the lives of New American high school students while gaining valuable work experience? Join the ETSS Youth Program as an After School Program Reach Higher Coach. It's a great part-time job with the benefit of improving lives.
Reach Higher Coaches work 12 hrs. per week at our Northeast Site. Hours are between 3PM - 7PM.
Basic Function
The Reach Higher Coach assists students ages 14-18 with academic, workforce, and social emotional skill development. Responsibilities include homework support, college test preparation assistance, and life skills training. Coordinates with Healthy Transitions and AMP programs to implement individualized, comprehensive strategies to support students’ secondary, post-secondary, and career planning activities.
Responsibilities
1. Supports and guides students by assisting with and giving feedback on homework in all subject areas.
2. Identify strengths and weaknesses of assigned students, using TABE test and / or other assessments as an evaluator tool.
3. In collaboration with Healthy Transitions and AMP Teams, identify and implement academic enrichment activities.
4. Assist with standardized test preparation (ACT, SAT)
5. Coach students in exploring graduation pathways and post-secondary education and certification opportunities.
6. Provide instruction in social emotional and life skill development.
7. Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files as required by program.
8. Maintain regular communication with Healthy Transitions and AMP Teams as related to student progress, needs, and concerns.
9. Provide opportunities for parent engagement.
10. Assist with setup, cleanup, meal service, and any other tasks as required by supervisors.
11. Perform tasks pertinent to achieving goals and objectives required by Youth Program grant, or as deemed necessary by Site Coordinator and / or Youth Program Director.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related area preferred but not required.
Experience
Previous experience working with high school students. Competent in teaching, assessments and standardized testing for secondary education. Experience working with the refugee and immigrant community.
