Are you ready for a fresh start in your veterinary career? At Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital, we’re searching for a skilled and passionate Laboratory/Pharmacy Veterinary Technician to be an essential part of our exceptional team.
This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on patient care while advancing your technical expertise in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Your Schedule & Compensation
- Shifts: Either four 10-hour days or three 12-hour days.
- Competitive pay: $20 - $35/hour, based on skills and experience
- Ensure accurate and timely lab test results for top-notch patient care.
- Operate and maintain cutting-edge lab instrumentation.
- Prepare and process samples (blood, tissue, urine) for external lab tests.
- Utilize Heska analyzers and perform tasks like platelet smear preparation, cytology reads, blood typing, and cross-matching.
- Accurately log lab requisitions, test results, and patient records.
- Prepare and fill prescriptions for both outpatients and hospitalized patients (in accordance with state laws).
- Educate clients on medication instructions with outstanding customer service.
- Maintain a well-organized and compliant Lab/Pharmacy department.
- Assist with drug inventory control and handle controlled substances per protocols.
- Experience: At least 1 year in veterinary medicine.
- Education: Associate's/Bachelor's degree or CVT/LVT/RVT certification preferred.
- Proficiency with lab equipment (e.g., analyzers, centrifuge, microscope) and cytology skills.
- Strong multitasking and communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and quality patient care.
- Comfortable working a rotating weekend schedule and at least two holiday shifts annually.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role.
