Alpharetta Veterinary Specialty Emergency in Alpharetta, GA is hiring full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our outstanding Oncology team!
 

Compensation:

$22 - $28 per hour, based on experience. *Additional shift differentials available on overnight shifts

About You: You are a skilled and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant, looking to support our specialized oncology team in delivering advanced medical care to pets diagnosed with cancer. This role involves assisting with complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and providing exceptional patient and client care in a fast-paced, specialty hospital environment. You understand the importance of maintaining a positive, respectful, uplifting hospital culture and genuinely love working with people that share that same value. You can adapt to the individual needs of each client and their patient, are eager to continue enhancing your skill set, and truly want to make a difference.

Requirements for the Role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Veterinary Assistant Certification or equivalent education strongly preferred. 
  • Minimum 1–2 years of veterinary experience required, with specialty or oncology experience highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with chemotherapy protocols, techniques, and safety precautions.
  • Basic knowledge of veterinary environment, terminology, protocols, equipment, diagnostics, procedures, and medical conditions. Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors. Ability to lift/move 50lbs. 
  • Attention to detail alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills with both clients and team members, with the capacity to support clients in emotionally charged and sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
