About the job :

Our teams play a crucial role in assisting with the care and treatment of critically ill or injured animals.

Key Responsibilities :

Triage and admit emergency cases
Provide nursing care to critically ill or injured patients, ensuring consistent evaluation and monitoring
Demonstrate proficiency in advanced hospitalization care and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
Perform in-house laboratory procedures
Skillfully place intravenous (IV) catheters
Conduct accurate and detailed patient rounds
Safely restrain fractious and frightened patients
Obtain temperature, pulse, and respiration (TPR) measurements and maintain medical records
Recognize situations requiring immediate attention from a veterinarian
Act as an advocate for both the patient and client

Basic Requirements :

High school diploma

2 years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or 3 consecutive years of Veterinary Assistant experience in an Emergency Room / Critical Care Unit (ER / CCU) setting

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients, demonstrating tact, patience, and professional courtesy while maintaining confidentiality and discretion

Proficiency in mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and other related calculations

Hold or obtain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer into the role (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held)

Work Schedule :

Full-time position

4 / 10 schedule

Flexibility required, including some holidays

Compensation and Benefits :

25.00 - $40.00 hourly plus shift differentials.
