About the Job:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in triaging incoming patients
- Monitor and provide care for critical and fractious patients
- Administer medications and assist with treatments
- Assist in diagnostic tests and emergency procedures
- Ensure patient comfort and wellbeing
- Provide support to veterinary professionals during exams and procedures
- Communicate effectively with pet owners and answer questions about care
- Maintain and organize medical equipment and supplies
- Accurately document patient care in electronic records
- Engage in ongoing education and training to expand skills
Compensation Range:
- Veterinary Assistant: $21.00-$31.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
- Various shifts available: days, swings, and overnights
- Full-Time positions, 4/10 schedule
- $5 shift differential for overnight shifts
Basic Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- 3 years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, client invoices, estimates, and other position-related tasks
- Maintain California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held)
- CA-RVT license preferred but not required
