About The Role
The veterinary assistant that we are looking for will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe surgical department in addition to:
- Support technicians and doctors as needed
- Support other departments in the hospital as needed, leadership guided
- Safe, low stress patient restraint for catheter placement and medication administration
- Assist in smooth transition between each surgery and/or consultation
- Assisting with laboratory tests and radiographs
- Assist with the set up and break down of the operating room
- Assist in sterile procedures by opening/unwrapping sterile packs & instruments and giving them to the surgeon or surgical assistant in a sterile fashion
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments using gas and steam sterilization techniques
- Maintaining stock & organization of equipment and supplies for surgical department
- Performing daily, weekly, and monthly department tasks and maintenance of equipment
