Operating Room Assistant
The Operating Room Assistant performs patient and non-patient functions under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse.
Duties include but are not limited to transport of patients into and from the Operating Room, assisting with positioning of patient, assisting with the turnover of the OR room by bringing in and removing equipment from the OR rooms, stocking supplies in the OR rooms and maintaining orderliness of supplies and equipment in the OR storage areas, retrieves ordered medications from pharmacy and blood from blood bank, assists in picking cases, reports any equipment in need of repair to the appropriate persons, performs clerical duties and all other duties as assigned
Position Responsibilities:
- Performs tasks listed in job summary according to policy and procedure.
- Integrates patient’s rights into work practice.
- Utilizes current methods of infection control.
- Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision making process to include recognition and priority setting related to patient care and unit based issues.
- Collaborates and communicates with the health care team.
- Completes competency requirements.
- Attends mandatory in-services.
- Attends staff meetings as required/ requested.
- Utilizes cost containment practices.
Education & Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma/Equivalency
Previous experience in hospital or with patient care preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
