What are the responsibilities and job description for the HSE Manager position at EthosEnergy Group?
EthosEnergy is currently seeking a HSE Manager who will be responsible for the management and implementation of EEFS safety policies and programs. Directly responsible for maintaining acceptable incident levels, and composing and executing the programs used to reach acceptable levels.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage employee files needed to comply with all safety audits and HIPAA laws – added HIPAA laws
- Drug testing – Schedule, maintain records, and kept confidential in employee’s personal medical records files.
- Background checks – TWIC and customer background checks shall be kept confidential and filed within the employee’s personal file.
- Accident Investigation – Respond to all injuries and incidents, manage the case from start to end and complete all reporting requirements to Vince and Risk Management.
- Training – Fulfil customer and employers requirements for training employees or scheduling employees for needed training in house or at safety councils.
- Deal with a wide range of safety related issues in the shop and field work.
- Monitor and maintain the safety department operating budget.
- Safety Supplies – Maintain adequate safety supplies and request supplies from purchasing agent when quantities are low.
- Training Spreadsheet – Maintain spreadsheet documenting all training completed by employees
- Audits – Audit jobsites for safety and complete at least a minimum of four audits per month.
- SDS information- Maintain our SDS website, and/or supply the appropriate SDS papers to all jobsites.
- OSHA Logs – Maintain OSHA logs and have information readily available for auditing purposes
- Manage the maintenance and repair of all PPE and other safety equipment
- Manage all safety incidents.
- Meet with the senior management team to review safety performance and participate in establishing safety policy. Reporting of all safety functions of this office to the corporate safety department.
- Support the office staff and field staff in a variety of duties as needed.
- Travel to all jobsites is required. Since jobsites are often out of the area, or even out of state, air travel will be required.
- The safety manager must be capable of entering all EEFS jobsites and customer’s properties, which often requires drug testing and back ground checks. This should be listed under requirements.
- The safety manager must continually update their safety certifications and education.
- Manage a highly trained and qualified confined space rescue team. Manage the maintenance and inspection of all rescue gear.
- Attend and /or manage attendance of all customer site safety forums and other customer safety meetings. These happen most often at the local refineries, but may be at other customer’s sites as well.
- Chair the Foremen and All Hands Meetings.
- Hand safe – Maintain hand safe alive program.
- Cover all aspects related to safety
- Spot check tool inspection process and make sure our tools are 100% inspected to OSHA and customer specs. Combine these
- Spot check rigging certification process and make sure it is in compliance.
- Accumulate monthly JSA, audits, safety observations, near misses, incident reports, and all safety meetings. Submit personal audits, safety observations, incidents and near misses to Safety Director for review. Must complete a minimum of four audits per month to conform with our Frontline Focus policy.
- Comply with DOT requirements for all truck driving foreman. Maintain annual updates for employee fit-for-duty.
- Attend all corporate HSE conference calls and workshops each month.
- Maintain forklift, scissor lift and aerial platform certifications. Supply training when needed.
- Oversee subordinate and mentor as needed.
- Maintain all HSE requirements per our Ethos.
Required Skills / Knowledge
- 10 years of experience in HSE safety, training or related field
- Familiar with corporate software packages and MS Office® software
- Strong verbal and written communication, stand-up training, interpersonal and organizational skills. A team player
- Legal authorization to work in the USA on a full-time basis
- ASP, CSP, OHST, CHST, PE preferred.
Experience
- Experience in power production, heavy industrial construction or the petroleum industry
- Knowledge of federal, state, local, and corporate HSE policies
Education Requirements
- Bachelor of Science related technical field, associate’s degree in safety
- technology, or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 25lbs
