Job Overview
The Manufacturing Assembler assembles and solders electronic components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies to produce complex outputs by putting together smaller components.
Responsibilities
o Reading and comprehending instructions and following established procedures.
o Collecting all material and equipment needed to begin the process.
o Taking precision measurements to ensure perfect fit of components.
o Ability to solder.
o Reads work orders, follows production drawings and sample assemblies, or receives verbal instruction regarding duties to be performed.
o Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixtures, or other holding device.
o Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, solders, epoxy, press fits, or performs similar operation to join or secure parts in place.
o Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals, and contact points.
o Mounts assembled components such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets on a chassis panel.
o Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
Qualifications
o Related experience as an assembler
o Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, drawings, etc.
o Ability in using various tools and machines, such as an epoxy machine and soldering tools
o Good verbal and written communication skills
o Good understanding of quality control principles
o Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
o Ability to read a ruler.
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
o High School Diploma or Degree from a technical school is preferred
