Instructional Aide Hiring Pool (Special Education Emphasis) 25/26 School Year

DEFINITION Under general supervision, to perform paraprofessional instructional activities in the classroom and outside play area; to assist in the conduct of intensified learning experiences for individual or small groups of students in assigned programs or grades/subjects; to supervise students; to perform supportive clerical tasks for students and school personnel; to assist in maintaining safe and healthy school and classroom environments, and to do related work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Positions assigned to this class may be found in a variety of school settings. Incumbents are expected to learn student supervision and instructional techniques for the specific area of school service to which assigned, such as special education, special needs, ELL, Title I, bilingual, general classroom, physical education, preschool, and campus assignments. Duties encompass a wide range of supportive tasks for students and staff in the program to which assigned. Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, and one of the following: 1) completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester units); or 2) obtained an associate degree (or higher); or 3) take the Etiwanda School District Paraprofessional Exam, a rigorous local academic assessment test. (This would be offered to all qualified candidates in lieu of 1, 2 and 4). 4) Chaffey Adult School Paraprofessional certificate accepted.
