JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for awarding purchasing contracts under agreed terms and conditions based on cost, delivery and quality requirements for specific commodities. Develop and implement procurement strategies to minimize cost and drive profit margins. Monitors vendor performance in quality, service and delivery and initiates changes where necessary.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Support the Strategic Sourcing Manager to oversee the product life cycle of a specific commodity of product(s).
- Work closely with the assistant buyer to see through the execution of purchasing contract.
- Provide commodity analysis and strategy recommendations based on market knowledge.
- Works directly with suppliers on Requests for Quotes (RFQs) on assigned commodity.
- Negotiate with vendors to obtain optimal products, terms, and pricing.
- Recommends new, improved and more economical purchased items.
- Monitors and measures vendor performance. Creates vendor performance reports and issues to management and vendors. Initiates corrective action where required.
- Research and qualify new vendors as required.
- Strategize effectively to solve problems with vendors and supply issues.
- Manage multiple projects at once by prioritizing, setting deadlines, and coordinating the flow of information internally and externally.
- Utilize various computer applications for database management, report generation and tracking spreadsheets.
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal and external partners in coordination with management.
- Provide training to new staff and contributes to committee or teamwork.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities for the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
A Bachelors Degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field is required. A minimum of three to five years’ experience is also preferred. Individual should have a thorough knowledge of purchasing procedures and techniques.
TRAVEL:
10% travel required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Some bending and twisting are required. Routine duties will occasionally require lifting approximately 10-20 pounds (and periodically heavier loads.)
