Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing administrative support within a medical office environment, ensuring smooth operations and excellent patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical records management, customer service, and familiarity with electronic medical records.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to medical staff and assist in daily office operations.
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups and specialist referrals.
- Confirming patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Collecting co-payments, deductibles, and balances.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Greet patients, answer inquiries, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Handle incoming calls, emails, and correspondence in a professional manner.
- Organize and maintain patient files, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to facilitate efficient patient care.
- Relaying accurate messages to the appropriate staff/physician.
- Initiating and completing prior authorizations for medications and ordered procedures such as MRI, CT, etc.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Experience working with an EMR preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical records management and documentation review processes.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing files and records.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
