Job Title: VMWare Systems Architect III
Duration: long -TERM
Location: Madison, WI (95% Remote, ~5% Onsite)
Job Overview:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, designing, and implementing backend infrastructure while collaborating with IT teams to ensure performance, security, and stability. This role also includes leading technical teams, providing third-level support, and managing Microsoft services such as Active Directory, Azure, and Group Policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting to analyze existing technologies and recommend improvements for stability and performance.
- Collaborate with IT professionals to ensure the design, delivery, and maintenance of infrastructure services.
- Lead and mentor a small technical team in completing operational tasks and documenting processes.
- Serve as a technical lead for backend infrastructure, including Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS, Group Policy, DFS, Azure, DHCP, and networking.
- Provide third-level support for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), multi-factor authentication, storage, backup, PowerShell scripting, and other off-the-shelf applications.
- Work closely with project managers and leadership to define project goals, identify subject matter experts, and implement best practices.
Required Skills & Experience:
- VMWare & VDI (10 years): Experience analyzing and optimizing performance, stability, and cost savings.
- Project Leadership (10 years): Ability to lead system implementations, set goals, and ensure best practices.
- Microsoft Windows Server Administration (10 years): Expertise in Active Directory, Group Policy, DFS, DHCP, DNS, and agency-managed application servers.
- Certificate Management (7 years): Experience in creating, maintaining, and supporting certificates for core systems and third-party integrations.
Preferred Skills:
- MS Visio (7 years): Ability to create infrastructure documentation for complex systems.
- LDAP Configuration (7 years): Strong understanding of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) setup and management.
- Multi-Factor Authentication Services (5 years): Hands-on experience with security authentication mechanisms.
- Microsoft Office 365 (3 years): Knowledge of Teams, Email, and related services.
- System Administration for Azure (3 years): Experience with Microsoft Azure subscriptions and cloud-based infrastructure management.
Interview Process:
