Position Overview:
The Library Media Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that students and staff have access to the tools and resources needed to enhance learning across all curricular areas. This position requires a knowledgeable, collaborative, and flexible educator who can support students and teachers by integrating literacy, research, and digital citizenship skills into the learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a welcoming and engaging library environment that promotes literacy, creativity, and learning.
- Collaborate with teachers across grade levels to integrate library/media resources into classroom instruction.
- Teach information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship to students and staff.
- Manage and maintain the Media Center’s print and digital collections, ensuring accessibility for all learners.
- Support technology integration and provide training on digital tools that enhance teaching and learning.
- Foster a culture of reading and inquiry by promoting books, resources, and literacy initiatives.
- Stay informed about current trends in library media services, technology, and education.
- Uphold and model the values and mission of the Eudora School District.
Qualifications:
- Kansas Teaching License with an endorsement in Library Media Specialist (or ability to obtain certification).
- Strong knowledge of literacy instruction, technology integration, and research skills.
- Ability to create and maintain an organized and engaging learning space.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with students, staff, and administration.
