Job Description
Position Title: Custodian (Maid or Janitor)
Reports To: Principal and Designee
Supervises:
Job Goal: Provide routine cleaning and care of the school facilities and/or site. This position will require the ability to work independently.
Length of Contract: 192 Days, 8 hours per day
Performance Responsibilities:
Clean and maintain school buildings and/or grounds as assigned.
Operate cleaning machines and equipment and report needed repairs.
Clean and properly store machines and equipment after use.
Recommend cleaning equipment, materials, tools and supplies and maintain inventory.
Report to Principal or Designee any situation that could be hazardous or result in injury to students or district personnel.
Perform minor maintenance and report major maintenance needs to Principal or Designee.
Maintain and exhibit a high level of ethical and professional standards as expected of all personnel
Participate in in-service training as assigned.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal or Designee, as long as they are not in conflict with board policy.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Working knowledge of the methods, practices, processes, tools, and materials associated with cleaning school facilities. Ability to operate cleaning machines and equipment.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and understand routine instructions.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
