What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Assistant Summer 2025 position at Eugene O'Neill Theater Center?
The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center is in search of a Seasonal Facilities (Landscaping & Maintenance) Assistant for the 2025 summer season. This position joins the facilities staff under the direction of the Facilities Manager to assist in the care of the historic grounds, buildings, public areas, and private facilities.
This is a non-exempt hourly position and staff is expected to work 30-40 hours per week including weekends. This position is paid $16.35 an hour.
Facilities staff works as part of a team with Housekeeping, Company Management, and Production departments. Candidates should be comfortable using power tools, mechanical equipment, able to work on their feet for long periods of time, and capable of lifting 50 lbs.

Among other responsibilities, the Facilities Assistant will:
- Respond to maintenance requests from staff, artists, and guests promptly and professionally.
- Assist with landscaping and maintaining the12-acre O’Neill property. Including: mowing and edging lawns, mulching, pruning bushes and gardens.
- Assist in routine upkeep of all interior and exterior spaces by performing preventative maintenance and repair. Knowledge in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and carpentry is ideal.
- Perform daily general clean up of all areas as directed by gathering and emptying trash and service restrooms.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
Qualified candidates will have some professional experience in facilities or maintenance. They will also be comfortable working with power tools, work in all weather conditions, stand for long periods of time, and be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must have the ability to work independently.
Preferred candidates will have a valid Driver’s License.
