What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graphic Designer / Illustrator position at Eugene Weekly?
Eugene Weekly is looking for a part-time graphic designer (beginning at 20 hours/week.)
The ideal candidate will have strong creative skills and a portfolio of work demonstrating their passion for design, illustration and typography. This candidate will have experience in working with print media as well as digital. Must be available and able to work within our print deadlines schedule (Mon.-Wed.)
Responsibilities:
- Work with sales team to create ads and share proofs for clients, as well as troubleshooting and archiving camera-ready ads provided by clients
- Work with editorial team for page design and proofing process
- Classifieds section layout
- Conceptualize and create illustrations/graphics for editorial, social media, marketing and promotions
- Maintain awareness of current industry and technology standards, social media and design trends
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field
- 3-5 years of professional work experience
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience using Mac platform, Google Suite and Dropbox
- Experience with print media and process
- Strong conceptual thinking, typography skills and design skills
- Experience with illustration and photography
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
- Portfolio of work required
