EMS Technician I, Salary Range E09EMS Technician II, Salary Range E10EMS Technician III, Salary Range E11Summary of Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Eureka County Medical Services Director/Coordinator, performs a variety of professional and administrative work in support of the Eureka County emergency medical and volunteer program.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
EMT I: This class is responsible for assisting the County Medical Services Director/Coordinator by providing support for the volunteer EMTs. Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.Render appropriate care in accordance with State Laws and regulations and service protocols to level of certification including disentanglement, rescue, treatment and transport. Ensures that sufficient volunteer EMTs are available to respond to calls for service.Immediately notifies the Coordinator if there is; an ambulance out of service, inoperative medical equipment or if there are insufficient available volunteers.Inspect, stock, keep clean and maintain or arrange for maintenance of assigned ambulances and EMS equipment.Enter complete Nevada EMS Patient Care reports into data management system in accordance with standards set by the State of Nevada, Department of Health and Human Services, Health Division, Emergency Medical Services within 24 hours of the call or by the next scheduled workdayAssist Volunteer EMTs with writing and entering EMS reports into data management system.Maintains file system of run reports, training certificates and other items as needed. Sends the original signed copy of insurance release forms to EMS billing promptly. Maintains a sufficient quantity of supplies on hand in a neat and orderly way.Orders supplies under the direction of the EMS Coordinator prior to running out or expiration date.Maintains a safe and clean physical environment at the bay.Promptly reports and if possible corrects safety violations and potential safety problems.Encourages the use of safe practices by volunteers. Actively recruits new EMT volunteers. Encourages the retention of existing volunteers.Provides a welcoming, friendly environment for all volunteers and visitors. Acts as Crew Leader providing leadership and direction to other EMS personnel during emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Performs Intermediate Life Support and invasive procedures as necessary. Performs duties assigned EMT I’s.Responds as Crew Leader to emergency and non-emergency calls for service: Provide leadership, direction, and responsible for decisions affecting patient care on the call. Acts as incident commander on medical calls for service unless relieved by an equal or higher medical provider.Render appropriate care; performs Intermediate Life Support including invasive procedures and medication administration as needed under State Laws, regulations, and service protocols, including disentanglement, rescue, treatment, and transport.Enter complete Nevada EMS Patient Care reports into the data management system in accordance with standards set by the State of Nevada, Department of Health and Human Services, Health Division, Emergency Medical Services within 24 hours of the call or by the next scheduled workday.EMT III: This class is responsible for assisting the Medical Services Director/Coordinatorr by providing support for and educating current and recruit volunteer EMTs. Acts as Crew Leader in providing leadership and direction to other EMS personnel during an emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Performs duties assigned EMT I and II’s.Conducts continuing education, field training and initial Emergency Medical Technician certification training to national standards.
