Position Summary:
The Product Design Engineer will be responsible for driving innovation and quality improvements within Euro-Wall’s product portfolio, with a primary focus on new product development and secondary support for enhancing products currently in the market. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including end users, architects, sales, service, production, and quality departments, to optimize product design, ensure compliance with industry standards, and achieve exceptional product performance, quality, and manufacturability.
What you will do:
- Implement design changes to current window and door products based on feedback from customers and internal departments to elevate quality, performance, and aesthetics.
- Lead the design of new and industry innovative, high-performance window and door products, focusing on quality, aesthetics, and ease of installation and serviceability.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, future building codes (e.g., NFRC, STC, FPA, TDI, etc.), and integrate these considerations into product design.
- Utilize project management tools to guide product development efforts, ensuring that established timelines are adhered to.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to successfully roll out new products and enhancements.
- Collaborate with the Director of Supply Chain and suppliers to procure hardware, extrusions, injection-molded parts, etc. for product improvements and new products.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in manufacturing, supporting efficient production processes for enhancements and new products.
- Develop and manage test packages for product compliance, including NFRC and STC standards, and facilitate testing for product approvals.
- Create product-specific formulas, BOMs, and detailed drawings to support product design and manufacturing.
- Partner with the in-house IT team to develop product configurators and provide technical assistance to customers and internal representatives.
- Assist the CAD department with customer submittal issues and custom job details.
- Oversee budgetary requirements for new product development and product launches, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or higher)
- Proven experience in the design and development of fenestration products
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor/SolidWorks; experience with Revit is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills for BOM creation and management
- Self-driven with strong accountability, discipline, and integrity
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Deep knowledge of product approval processes and relevant industry guidelines
- Strong understanding of product fabrication, CNC machinery, hardware integration, and assembly processes
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and optimization
- Excellent project management abilities, with experience in using Gantt charts and other project tools to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional analytical skills for product testing and compliance evaluation
- Detail-oriented, with high standards for product quality and accuracy in technical documentation.
- Collaboration skills, with the ability to work seamlessly across teams such as Supply Chain, IT, Manufacturing, and Quality
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong technical writing skills for clear documentation and reporting
- Customer-focused mindset, with the ability to provide effective technical support to clients and internal stakeholders.
