Job Description

Looking for a Senior Product Safety Engineer with working knowledge of (IEC 62368-1 2nd & 3rd edition & IEC 61010-1 3rd edition and its collateral along with UL 2202). The engineer should be senior enough to demonstrate working knowledge within the standards identified above. The Senior Product Safety Engineer will also be required to support other engineers on their projects, sales staff, and customers as needed. Project scoping and quoting will be part of the requirements and helping build the Union City product safety business. The Senior Engineer should be able to work independently with minimal help / guidance on a variety of products to the requirements of U.S., Canadian and other international product safety standards; writing reports; and communicating with clients.

Senior Engineer - Product Safety responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

• Require standard knowledge needed in the base standards 2nd & 3rd editions (IEC 62368-1 & IEC 61010-1) along with EV chargers standards.
• Quoting to standards such as (IEC 61010-1, IEC 61010-2-010, IEC 61010-2-30, IEC 61010-2-51, IEC 61010-2-081, IEC 62368-1) along with EV chargers standards.
• Read and determine the applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
• Test products in accordance with standards and requirements. Core tests include, but are not limited to power input, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, stability, mechanical hazards, flammability, abnormal and single fault, IP testing, and others as applicable per project and compliance requirements.
• Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
• Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing and project execution & also able to set up test plans.
• Perform preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off-site.
• Train and mentor less senior technical staff.
• Support sales in project communication with customers.
• Attend product reviews to provide technical support.
• Answer technical questions.
• Review technical reports & test plans.
• Be able to manage multiple projects.
• For this position, the Senior Product Engineer can at times work from home on their projects if no activity is needed for the Senior Engineer to be in the lab.
