Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
We have an exciting opportunity to support our client in biocatalysis. The Scientist will be responsible for using enzymatic reactions to prepare chiral intermediates and optimize reaction conditions to accelerate process development. The candidate will also be responsible for writing and reviewing documentation, regularly updating notebooks, providing updates to management, following all safety protocols in the laboratory, and supporting other laboratory activities as needed.

Position is Full Time, Monday – Friday First Shift with overtime as business needs require. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Cambridge, MA are encouraged to apply.

Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
We have an exciting opportunity to support our client in biocatalysis. The Scientist will be responsible for using enzymatic reactions to prepare chiral intermediates and optimize reaction conditions to accelerate process development. The candidate will also be responsible for writing and reviewing documentation, regularly updating notebooks, providing updates to management, following all safety protocols in the laboratory, and supporting other laboratory activities as needed.
Position Responsibilities
- Run enzymatic reactions and isolate pure products.
- Immobilize enzymes on resins and develop assays to evaluate enzyme activity.
- Optimize enzymatic reactions to develop scalable processes.
- Perform chiral analysis using UPLC and GC, and characterize the products using NMR and MS.
- Analyze experimental data and properly document experiments (electronic lab notebook and records).
- Generate protocols, reports, and presentations on performed experiments.
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- Perform other laboratory-based activities, as required.
BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline is required
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in an industry laboratory setting. Academic work does not count towards experience.
- Must have experience with organic synthesis and/or chemistry reactions
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in project priorities and timelines
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship indefinitely.
- Advanced Degree preferred
- Enzyme immobilization, enzyme-catalyzed reactions, enzyme kinetics, or enzyme assays, is preferred
- A working knowledge of common analytical instruments, including HPLC, GC, KF, NMR and MS
- Highly self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, with a can-do attitude; experience in chromatography is a plus.
- Understanding of pharmaceuticals development and cGMP principles is a plus
