We are searching for a motivated & experienced Senior Safety Specialist
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Logistics, responsible for implementing and maintaining a strong safety culture which is an integral part of everyday business by performing the following duties personally or through direct supervisors.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: include the following
- Follow all company policies
- Follow GMP regulations
- Follow and implement OSHA regulations
- Active and willing participant in all safety programs
- Performs statistical analyses of incident causes and hazards to health for the use of company personnel and outside agencies.
- Helps create and administer safety policies and procedures to be followed by the company or plant personnel in compliance with local, state, federal, NIOSH, ANSI, and NFPA.
- Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, shops, fire prevention and safety equipment.
- Performs general and focused safety and health audits recommending corrective actions along with preventive measures when required.
- Assists in creation of safety training programs for employees and presents various job specific safety training to employees.
- Participates in the investigation of incidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use in hearings, law suits, and insurance investigations.
- Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings.).
- Informs Manager of any problems or complications that may arise
- Coordinates and conveys various environmental, health and safety information to Bakery employees.
- Maintains safety files and records
- Assist in the management of Loss Prevention/Security Process
- Participates in and provides assistance to the safety committee
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required
- Must ensure that all contractors meet or exceed contractor safety system including insurance requirements.
- Be a part of the First Responders Team
- Ability to get along with people with enthusiasm, perseverance and drive
- Must be approachable and have readiness for new ideas and approaches
- Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Logistics may conduct industrial hygiene monitoring.
- Other duties may be assigned
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulations and all lock-out/tag-out requirements according to OSHA requirements.
- As part of your supervisory responsibility and as a back-up, supervisors must be able to do your work in ways that ensure safe food. You must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Formal training is not required, but in-house Food Safety Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards. This position requires good working knowledge of the SQF code
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Manufacturing experience preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) not mandatory, but strongly preferred.
