Description
Services Provided:
Board Certified /Board Eligible Gastroenterology Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System.
Place of Performance - Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, 4300 West 7th St, Little Rock, AR 72205.
Standards of Care:
- The physician care shall cover the range of Gastroenterology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized TJC, VA and national standards as established by:
- American Academy of Gastroenterology Guidelines:
- The professional standards of the Joint Commission (TJC):
- The standards of the American Hospital Association (AHA):
Scope of Care:
- Physician (as appropriate and within scope of practice/privileging) shall be responsible for providing Gastroenterology care, including, but not limited to:
- Clinic and Surgical Care: Physician shall provide clinical Gastroenterology services.
- Physician shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries as documented by physical presence in the clinic or operating room at the scheduled start time.
Operative Services:
- Physician shall provide comprehensive clinical Gastroenterology services including the diagnosis and treatment of Gastroenterology disease and surgical procedures.
- Typical procedures include EGD, Colonoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound & ERCP's,
Intraoperative Follow-up:
- The physician shall be present in the endoscopy suite for all Gastroenterology procedures.
- Physician shall provide consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory and, in the clinic, setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
Qualifications
Gastroenterologist:
- Candidate shall have a minimum of one year of experience in direct patient care; however, more years of experience may be rated stronger than another candidate.
- Prior VA experience may be considered a strength.
- Strong candidates, with higher and/or better references and with less experience may be considered.
License:
- The physician shall have a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
- All licenses held by the key personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
- Physician who has current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
Board Certification:
- Physician shall be Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM.org) and be currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS or equivalent.
- All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must always be kept up to date.
- Documentation verifying current certification shall be provided to the VA COR on an annual basis for each year of contract performance.
VA HOURS OF OPERATION/SCHEDULING:
VA Business Hours:
- Normal Business Hours ? 8:00am ? 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
- Clinic Schedule: 8:00am ? 4:30pm, Monday ? Friday. Rotating weekends and holidays. Rotating weeks after normal working hours call coverage. 4:30pm ? 7am
- Patients must be seen by a physician on-site in a timely manner in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations on clinic wait times and consult completion.
- Contractor shall notify the COR at least monthly about any obstacles to meeting this performance measure.
- Contractor's physician(s) shall be available and present in the clinic during normal clinic hours, which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff.
- Currently, normal clinic hours are 8:00am ? 4:30pm. Monday ? Friday. Rotating weekends and holidays. Rotating weeks after normal working hours call coverage. 4:30pm ? 7am
- Clinic duties: Perform endoscopic procedures in GI lab, staffing and supervising GI fellows in endoscopy lab and inpatient consult service, supervising Fellows in gastroenterology clinic when required.
