The Opportunity
Design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station solutions. As the Electrical Designer, you'll provide technical leadership, create comprehensive engineering deliverables for electric vehicle infrastructure (including installation drawings, calculations, and specifications), and coordinate with diverse teams to ensure project success.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently manage multiple electric vehicle charging station projects concurrently.
- Lead and support a team of drafting professionals specializing in EV infrastructure.
- Contribute to project scheduling, quality assurance, and budget management for EV charging projects.
- Develop detailed design concepts and produce accurate construction documents for electric vehicle charging stations.
- Apply technical specifications, material selection, and product research specific to EV charging infrastructure.
- Possess a foundational understanding of tenant development, space planning, and building code analysis relevant to electric vehicle charging installations.
- Contribute creative ideas to EV charging station project concepts.
- Monitor project scope, schedule, and budget for electric vehicle infrastructure, ensuring adherence to architectural guidelines.
- Develop and implement work plans for EV charging projects, supervise team members, and provide mentorship.
- Review shop drawings, prepare RFPs, change orders, and closeout documentation during the construction phase of electric vehicle charging station projects.
- Learn and utilize CADD, Revit, and other relevant software specific to EV infrastructure design.
- Contribute to the firm's QA/QC program by reviewing architectural work for electric vehicle charging stations.
- Perform various administrative tasks to support EV charging infrastructure team operations.
- Assist in developing and maintaining production standards for electric vehicle charging projects.
- Occasionally participate in site visits and project measurements for EV charging installations.
- Perform other related tasks as required for electric vehicle infrastructure development.
- Conduct feasibility studies, energy optimization assessments, power system coordination, arc flash hazard analysis, and electrical reliability analysis specific to EV charging infrastructure.
- Provide construction inspection services and resolve electrical construction issues for electric vehicle charging stations.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience in electric vehicle and infrastructure design.
- Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams working on EV charging projects.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills specific to electric vehicle infrastructure.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and direct teams specializing in EV charging station development, inspiring trust and confidence.

- EV Expertise: Extensive experience with electric vehicle (EV) charging systems and infrastructure design.
- Code Compliance: Familiarity with and experience applying the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) to EV charging installations.
- Power Distribution: Experience in designing low and medium voltage power distribution systems and equipment for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
