Low Voltage Power Supply Core Engineer is responsible for the improvement and development of low voltage power supply component and system specifications for both Internal Combustion and Electric Vehicle electrical systems. Engineer is responsible for creating specifications for 12V and/or 48V power supply system and components, such as Ultra Capacitors, Li-Ion Batteries, or DC to DC Converters. The Power Supply Core Engineer will also create and author Failure Mode Avoidance FMA quality documents; Boundary and P-Diagrams, RCL and DFMEAs. The Power Supply Core Engineer will contribute to the Design and Verification testing plans development and assist with the supplier APQP support.

- The Low Voltage Power Supply engineer is responsible for improvement and development of low voltage power supply components and systems for both Internal Combustion, Hybrid Electric and Electric Vehicle electrical systems. Work may include:
- Develop and size 12V and/or 48V power supply components, such as Ultra Capacitors, Li-Ion Batteries, or DC to DC Converters; 1st tier supplier selection; specification development; Design and Verification testing plan development; supplier APQP support; support ISO 26262 Automotive Functional Safety requirements and releasing the module into the Ford system.
- Integration of the Power Supply components into the electrical charging system for the Internal Combustion engine and/or Electric Vehicle electrical systems.
What You'll Do…
- Create and/or modify low voltage power supply component specifications.
- Create and/or modify low voltage power supply sub-system requirements.
- FEDE release of specification and FMA Quality documents.
- Work with suppliers to complete all supplier component FMA (Failure Mode Analysis) documentation including CPAs (Change Point Analysis) and SCCAFs (Special Characteristics Communication and Agreement Form.)
- Review supplier DFMEAs, complete DFMEAs assessment.
- Lead supplier SCCAF and supplier Control Plan development.
- Contribute and support supplier Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) prior to sourcing and during development of new technology.
You'll have…
- Bachelor’s degree, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, and Automotive Engineer or a related Engineering field.
- 3 years of experience in Product Development (Initial Concept through Production Launch)
- 3 years of experience in low voltage power supply development and testing
- Experience in electronics module design.
- Familiarity with Ford Systems (FEDE, Teamcenter, JAMA, WERS
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering
- 5 years’ Experience in electronics module design.
