What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sitework Equipment Operator position at EV Construction?
EV Construction, based in Holland, MI, and in business for over 75 years, is seeking an experienced crew member for our Sitework team. Our team members model character (ability to be trusted), chemistry (ability to work well with others), and competence (ability to work with skill). The ideal candidate would have at least some experience operating heavy equipment used in earthwork, utility installation, and other commercial excavating.
Duties include:
- General labor duties – working outdoors in year-round conditions on various construction sites
- Operate routinely used hand tools and equipment—shovels, come-along rakes, compactors, levels, jackhammers, saws, etc
- Operate a range of earthwork and utility equipment; loaders, compactors, skid steers, tractors, etc
- Move materials around a job site.
- Use hand signals to coordinate actions with equipment operators and other crew members
- Installing storm, sanitary and waterline pipe - cut, sling and carry pipe
- Set manholes and catch basins
- Check and adjust grades
Qualifications:
- Know how to read plans and specs preferred
- Know how to use a laser / transit preferred
- Commercial Driver's License or the ability to obtain
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and carry 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds or more occasionally
- Must be able to see details at close range
- Will work for prolonged periods standing in a variety of conditions
- Must have good manual dexterity, good sense of balance, good hand-eye coordination
