Job Description

The AVL Technician is responsible to provide leadership, strategy and alignment with the Media Ministry and their respective volunteers. They will work for, and directly with, the Production Coordinator for all things that relate to Audio, Video, & Lighting for in-house and Broadcast needs at Evangel Church. The focus of this position is to implement dynamic and engaging worship experiences across all events, services and multi-site locations specifically through sound production and media technology across various media platforms. This person will champion, lead and oversee a team of talented volunteers for all services, both onsite and online. He/she will carry out the church's mission and vision, being strategically minded, and intentional with the discipleship and development of the next generation of Jesus followers.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Train Volunteer base to champion audio needs for the Front of House and Live Stream Audio.
  • Responsible for staffing and scheduling appropriate personnel for Front of House and Live Stream Audio for all services.
  • Assist in preparing stage(s) for Wednesday, Sunday and Auxiliary Services based on the needs of each service.
  • Provide scheduling for the entire sound ministry, using volunteer core efficiently and effectively to ensure all services are rostered 1 month in advance.
  • Auxiliary ministries should be encouraged to have their own sound teams, trained by the AVL Tech. However, responsibility to attend services/ministry meetings would be that of the AVL Tech to cover.
  • Installation, Repair, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting of any and all existing or new audio equipment within any of Evangel's Locations.
  • At the request of the Production Coordinator - assist in Video / Photo shooting and editing as needed.
  • Mixing down *select* audio from Sunday Morning worship at Scotch Plains, for re-posting on Social Media/YouTube/Spotify.
  • Mixing and recording original music written by and for Evangel Worship.
  • Mixing and recording any audio for special events/video services.

  • Experience in Audio Engineering, Video production (live and/or studio).

  • A minimum of 3 years experience providing similar services and working with volunteer teams.

  • Have a clear calling to work in a multimedia environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Northeastern US culture.

Accountability:

The AVL Technician has a direct reporting relationship to the Production Coordinator.

The AVL Technician and Production Coordinator have a close working relationship with and are overseen by the Worship Arts Director.

Specific details related to this position:

Work schedule: This is a part-time position. This normally involves up to 24 hrs per week as follows:

  • Wednesday Night Prayer (1:00pm - 9:00pm)
  • Thursday Night Rehearsal (1:30pm - 9:30pm)
  • Sunday Morning Worship Service (6:30am - 1:30pm)

Hours may be adjusted as needed upon review.
