What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications Manager position at Evangel?
We're looking to grow our Creative Team! Whether that means hiring one full-time Communications Manager or splitting the responsibilities between two part-time roles (Social Media Manager and Marketing Manager), our goal is to build a strong team that can effectively communicate what God is doing in and through our church.
Position Summary
The Communications Manager plans and implements communications strategies to effectively reach both church attendees and the wider community. This role will ensure people stay informed, connected to, and inspired by what God is doing in the church through different creative channels. Their main goal is to build Dream Teams and develop people to help shoulder the workload.
Key Areas of Responsibility and Ownership
- Marketing - Plan and implement strong marketing campaigns for key weekends and events (both paid and organic). Provide potential PR opportunities that arise within each event. This includes and is not limited to scheduling print pieces, digital marketing, planning and maintaining a budget, etc.
- Communications - Plan and implement churchwide communications, including newsletters, announcement videos, and other strategies to help engage the church.
- Digital Platforms- Manage and plan content for all social media platforms, evangel-owned websites and apps.
- Project & Task Management - Manage projects and help create timelines for communication pieces on Asana. Ensure tasks have been created and the right people are informed of the role they play in completing a communication project.
- Bismarck Campus Creative Dream Teams - Lead Bismarck campus creative dream teams including capture teams and social media teams. Also assisting other campuses with creative dream team needs.
- Campus Alignment - Work to ensure that all campuses are resourced and aligned with their communications and needs.
- Manage Creative Team - Oversee staff creative team staff and provide provide support/feedback.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in communications, marketing or related fields
- Experience leading teams

About Evangel
Evangel was started in 1928 because two brothers had a passion to reach the community of Bismarck for Jesus. Through the years, Evangel has grown into a church with a regular weekend attendance that surpasses 3,000 people joining across all its campuses. The church is served by a dynamic group of Elders and church staff who give direction and oversight to the church. While Evangel’s broadcast location remains in Bismarck, the vision is regional in nature and people are being reached all across the upper Midwest and beyond!
