Virtual Design and Construction Assistant Manager
Summary
The VDC Assistant Manager contributes and supports specific VDC implementation of Construction Technology needs of our complex project types in our Advanced Technology, Life Sciences, and Manufacturing core markets. The person in this role should be able to manage day-to-day VDC activities, identify and ensure prompt resolution of issues, and work together with the Project Team to ensure the work is proceeding on schedule, within budget, and according to contract requirements and specifications. A successful VDC Assistant Manager must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, have a high level of attention to detail, be organized, work well under pressure, and work well with diverse teams and personalities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Be a main support person to VDC Senior Manager
- Assists in the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports detailing the status of BIM efforts
- Investigate and Develop Innovative Methods to use BIM and LEAN Processes
- Provide Quality Control and Quality Analysis Assessment on Digital Assets
- Organize and manage vast amounts of data efficiently
- Lead and manage coordination of complex MEP systems throughout the design process, BIM coordination, submittal, and construction of the project
- Perform model QAQC to ensure compliance with client expectations and Contract Documents.
- Work with Trade Contractor and Designers to achieve spatial coordination of all trades
- Communicate with Superintendent and Project Manager to understand priority, workflow and issues
- Maintain good relationships with the Owner, Architect, Engineers, Subcontractors and Suppliers involved with the project
- Maintain and develop project BIM execution plans and requirements for individual projects
- Develop VDC strategies and solutions during the preconstruction phase through the post-occupancy phase of a project
- Effectively communicate BIM environments, requirements, standards and procedures to audiences unfamiliar with the technology
- Prepare and executing training and education based on the needs of the project stakeholders.
- Create and analyze 2D/3D/4D/5D Models as required
- Develop VDC schedules with Field Team
- Understand SCRUM and Agile Project Management techniques
- Compare BIM with contract documents
- Assist with identifying design change and coordination challenges
- Assist with preparing the job start-up and close-out checklists
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in, Construction Management, Building Science or Engineering Degree with VDC/BIM focus and experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years is preferred
- Experience and knowledge of construction technology, BIM applications and industry standards
- Thorough understanding of the design phases and the construction process including standard MEP installation practices
- Able to interpret drawings, specifications, building codes, and other technical product and material specifications, as well as manage VDC contractual obligations and responsibilities
- Familiarity with the following software is preferred: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 Apps and Autodesk Cloud applications.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Self-starter with a high degree of personal responsibility and integrity
- Ability to travel to project sites to promote VDC, BIM and Construction Technology as required
- Highly detail oriented
