Lab Clerk / Phlebotomist
Job Summary:
- Performs related clerical, billing and charting responsibilities.
- Prepares all specimens to reference laboratories.
- Obtains proper blood specimens from patients in the hospital.
- Collects appropriate control specimens as requested.
- Assists technologists and other personnel as time and training permits.
- Identifies age specific phlebotomy needs of patients and implements appropriate procedures and processes.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic medical terminology.
- Understanding of medical ethics and handling of confidential information.
- Formal or on-the-job blood collection techniques.
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
