Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Teach art courses for kindergarten through grade 5.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement an effective, engaging, and meaningful Primary School Art scope and sequence that is vertically and horizontally aligned.
- Employ research-based and innovative instruction.
- Create a warm and well-structured learning environment with consistent routines and high expectations that encourages and supports intellectual risk-taking and growth.
- Provide timely individualized feedback to students.
- Communicate proactively with families.
- Contribute to the life of Day School by leading student clubs and activities.
- Supervise students as assigned by Division Head.
- Be a visible presence at school events.
- Actively collaborate with the Primary School faculty and Art Department.
- Actively participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
- Model a commitment to lifelong learning and growth.
- Uphold Day School’s Mission and core values.
Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree, preferred.
- Experience teaching Primary School Art, preferred. Indiana Teaching License not required.
- Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of Primary School students.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire students.
- Exceptional written and oral skills.
- Committed to collaboration and innovation.

- Committed to growing in instructional and assessment practices.
