POSITION SUMMARY
The Circulation Associate provides in person and telephone assistance to current and potential library patrons. The Circulation Associate explains library policies, circulates library materials, and issues library cards using the integrated library system, assists with library technology or patron questions, and shelves materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In cooperation with the Circulation Services Manager and other colleagues, the Circulation Associate will advance the library’s mission, vision, strategic priorities, and brand.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work at the circulation desk; process materials, collect fees, and solve issues.
- Check patron info before lending materials, explain library card benefits, and issue cards.
- Help Patrons with library tech, policies, programs, and services.
- Participate in weeding and organizing materials, addressing missing item parts returned by patrons.
- Collect and record money received.
- Sort, shift, shelve and weed library materials
- Participates in special projects, or other duties, as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 years’ experience working in direct customer service.
- Must have reliable and timely transportation to and from work.
- 1 years’ experience in a public library setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Google Suite products.
- A continuous learner with a welcoming attitude, a collaborative work ethic, and a desire to go above and beyond to serve our diverse community.
