What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director-Career and Technical Education position at Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation?
- Determine goals and strategies for career and technical education by assessing
- district, regional and community needs based on data.
- Serve as regional contact for SICTC programming and data collection as required by
- federal Perkins legislation.
- Serve as regional contact relative to workforce needs as it relates to secondary
- training.
- Research and facilitate the development of a vertically aligned curriculum K-12.
- Research best practice; prepare and distribute materials/resources to supplement
- instruction.
- Analyze data from standardized formative and summative testing (ISTEP , CTBS,
- SAT, PSAT, ACT, Work Keys etc.) and facilitate adjustment of curriculum and
- instruction as needed.
- Provide staff development opportunities for teachers to ensure classroom
- implementation of best practice and curriculum.
- Participate in interviewing process for positions related to curriculum area.
- Assist in the evaluation of teachers and department chairs.
- Work with administrators, counselors, teachers, and advisory committees in
- formulating policies and procedures related to area of responsibility.
- Collect, interpret, coordinate, and distribute data for use in the identification process to
- admit students to special curricular areas such as Gifted/Talented and honors
- programs/courses.
- Share responsibility for change as needed to ensure student success.
- Stay abreast of current research in education and apply knowledge as warranted.
- Meet regularly, communicate and collaborate with department heads, other core
- curriculum directors and instructional coaches.
- Conduct process for resource adoption and curriculum development.
- Secure additional funding sources, formulate and manage budgets/grants related to
- area of responsibility.
- Coordinate with Title I and Title II initiatives.
- Coordinate special assignments.
- Maintain appropriate student records.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and
- Learning.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Master’s degree with major area of study in the specified subject preferred.
- CTE, Teaching, Counselor experience preferred.
