    Insurance:
    This position is eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance coverage on the employee, spouse, and eligible dependents. The employee's insurance will be effective on the first of month following the hire date. The EVSC also offers employees an opportunity for life insurance and long term disability coverage.

    Retirement:
    As a contract teacher, this position will automatically be enrolled in the Teacher Retirement Fund (TRF) through the state of Indiana, which includes a defined benefit (Pension) as well as an Annuity Savings Account (ASA). In addition, this position is eligible to enroll in a 401(a) retirement investment plan, a 403(b) Match Program, and a tax-free post-retirement medical expense account (VEBA).

    Additional Benefits:
    Employees enrolled in an EVSC medical insurance plan are eligible to use our Health & Wellness Centers conveniently located within the community. These are no-cost health clinics that provide primary care treatment, generic prescription medications (at no cost), physicals, health screenings, and labs. Accumulated sick leave days and personal business days will be provided under this position as well. Additionally, EVSC employees have access to EVSC Wee Care, our employee-only early learning centers. Wee Care provides a quality early learning experience for children as young as six weeks through age five.

    SUMMARY:

    The Office of Schools and Instructional Core oversees the efforts and supports to ensure the success of all students through strategic and cohesive school improvement efforts. Paramount to school improvement efforts is the need for a highly qualified and highly effective teaching force. The Executive Director of Teacher Development is tasked with creating the vision, strategy, and implementation approach for district-wide efforts to improve teacher practice and provide ongoing development and support levers to teachers and their coaches/mentors to drive key growth in areas of teacher practice and improve their success with students.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

    • Develop a theory of action and aligned strategies to implement and ensure the efficacy of high-impact teacher development levers district-wide, including coaching, PLCs, and district-provided professional development.
    • Utilize and vet data (including student impact, observation, and experiential) to determine high-priority needs for teacher development, evaluate the efficacy of teacher support structures, and create aligned learning opportunities either within the department or in coordination with the Office of Academics and The Office of Diverse Learning
    • Create and implement structures for coach collaboration and development, including training, mentoring, and evaluation
    • Collaborate with building principals to ensure coach efficacy and implementation of high-quality teacher support levers, including coaching and PLCs
    • Provide training to new teachers and coordinate mentors or other differentiated support structures for new teachers
    • Develop and provide professional development sessions (both synchronous and asynchronous) to provide training in high-prioritized areas.
    • Research best practices in adult learning theory and provide training and resources to support and develop departments providing teacher-facing development
    • Support building leaders to develop and implement highly effective PLCs and cultivate effective PLC leaders
    • Coordinates with various district departments and engages in zone-specific collaboration structures to ensure the highest needs buildings are prioritized/receive necessary, timely supports
    • Develops baseline expectations and aligned materials and toolkits to support improving school-based teacher development levers (such as PLCs, Coaching structures)
    • Acts as public champion for the needs and accomplishments of all students
    • Manage a team of highly effective and collaborative directors who work across department lines to ensure strong implementation of theory of action

    JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
    • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, Board of School Trustees policies and local/federal policies
    • Strong statistical analysis skills.
    • Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills, with an ability to motivate and inspire a diverse set of stakeholders toward a common goal.
    • Ability to develop, manage, and modify complex work plans.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.
    • Ability to balance and deliver on both strategic and tactical work.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manage a team of 2-3 Teacher Development Specialists

    Laterally work across departments in coordination with CAOs and other Chiefs

    Work Directly with Building Administrators to support teacher improvement and development structure implementation efforts

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree required

    Advanced degrees preferred

    Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience (Including successful classroom teaching and experience developing and leading adult development in a learning-centered environment and/or educational administration)

    Experience with technology; (Excel and Google applications required)

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    Building administrator license

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, school board members, and the general public.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, and statistical inference.
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to prepare, project, monitor and document funds from multiple sources.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
