What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMUNICATION MANAGER position at Evansville Water and Sewer Utility?
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility (EWSU) communications team plays an integral role in informing
and educating the Evansville metro community about water- and sewer-related issues. As
Communications Manager, your primary focus will be supporting the development and execution of the
external communications strategy. You will be responsible for content and campaign planning and
development, including creating and managing website copy, email campaigns, news releases and social
media content. You are also responsible for protecting and fostering the health of the Utility’s brand by
ensuring consistent, quality storytelling and design communication and contributing to excellent customer
experiences. You may occasionally be asked to plan small events and assist with internal
communications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Create a cross-platform communications plan and editorial calendar.
Maintain all social media channels associated with the Utility.
Manage website content and awareness; includes directing the web developer.
Produce and/or direct video production for internal and external uses.
Develop and design various pieces of content including bill inserts and brochures.
Manage email marketing campaigns.
Take or obtain photos for general purposes.
Manage photography and video asset library.
Write news releases and customer alerts as needed for scenarios such as road closures and
community initiatives.
Handle all media inquiries.
Collaborate with our external marketing consultancy.
Report on key metrics from all communications channels.
Minimum Requirements:
Basic proficiency in:
Email Platform (i.e., MailChimp)
Graphic Design (i.e., InDesign and Photoshop)
Video Editing (i.e., iMovie or Final Cut Pro)
Social Media Management (i.e.,Sprout Social and Canva)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Skilled in written communication and public relations, with working knowledge of AP Style.
Ability to understand and apply brand guidelines to communications deliverables.
Additional Preferred Experience:
Marketing automation (Marketo, Eloqua, Silverpop, etc.).
Database management (Microsoft Access, SQL, STIBO, etc.).
Experience in WordPress is a plus.
Knowledge of Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
