Job Summary
The Pretreatment Manager for the Evansville Water & Sewer Utility will be crucial in managing and enforcing the pretreatment
program to control industrial wastewater discharges. The primary responsibilities include ensuring compliance with federal, state, and
local regulations, conducting inspections, and collaborating with stakeholders to protect water quality. This role demands technical
expertise, leadership, and commitment to public health and environmental stewardship.

Research and Innovation, and Collaboration with Treatment Plants
Skills/Abilities
Proficiency in using GIS software and other database tools for tracking and analysis purposes. Strong analytical skills with experience
in data review procedures. Ability to interpret ordinances, waste parameters and monitoring equipment. Ability to conduct and
complete laboratory analysis. Strong leadership and team management capabilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and
verbal, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Ability to complete clear and concise oral and written reports.
A strong commitment to promoting public health and safety through diligent and proactive management of pretreatment activities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is required.
Minimum of five years of experience in environmental management, wastewater management, or a closely related field, with at least
two years in a supervisory or management role. Knowledge of wastewater system analysis, processes and monitoring equipment.
Knowledge of administrative procedures and federal, state and local regulations associated with sewerage systems and treatment
processes.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based with regular field visits to various sites within Evansville. Must be willing to respond to emergencies outside of
standard working hours as needed. Ability to lift and carry more than 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and handle exposure to
hazardous materials with provided PPE and training. Work near floor or wall openings, elevated platforms, and confined spaces.
Exposure to environmental conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, and noisy conditions above 85 dB. Potential harm from
hazardous gases, chemicals, and electrical shock. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions. Follow OSHA
regulations to prevent personal injury.
