POSITION TITLE: Payroll Specialist/HR Generalist
FLSA: Exempt
SALARY: $62,000.00-$72,000.00 annually
Full-time - no remote option
POSITION REPORTS TO: Vice President of Human Resources
POSITION PURPOSE: The Payroll Specialist/HR Generalist will be responsible for a wide range of HR tasks, while using Paychex / Paychex Flex payroll system to process bi-weekly payroll. Some bookkeeping will be required using Quickbooks. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with excellent communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes bi-weekly payroll using Paychex/Paychex Flex and the filing of required federal and state tax forms.
- Manage the recruitment and onboarding process, including job postings, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and facilitating new hire orientation.
- Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with inquiries related to benefits enrollment, changes, and claims.
- Meet mandatory deadlines for health insurance, 401k, etc.
- Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
- Implement and enforce HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and performance.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases. Information may include employee’s hourly rates, salary, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholdings, and other information.
- Provide HR support to employees and managers daily, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement programs or policy development.
- Bookkeeping to help with AP/AR may be required.
- Utilize PowerPoint and Excel to make detailed presentations to company management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING
- Associate Degree in Human Resources or Business; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- HR roles, with a focus on generalist responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Paychex Payroll timekeeping system
- Paychex Flex
- Quickbooks
- Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Organizational skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a diplomatic and tactful manner
