Job Description : Project Management Leader

Position Summary

As a Project Management Leader, you will spearhead the execution of a dynamic portfolio of electric vehicle (EV) charging station construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. This is a pivotal role that requires a results-oriented leader with extensive knowledge in project financials, cash flow forecasting, schedule management, and variance analysis.

The perfect candidate will have a robust background in construction, preferably in sectors such as renewable energy, distributed generation, or EV charging infrastructure. As both a manager and a contributor, you will lead your team of project managers and support staff while also stepping in as needed to manage projects directly. A leadership style that thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial atmosphere is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Project Execution & Financial Oversight :

  • Drive the execution of EV charging station construction projects, emphasizing financial performance, adherence to timelines, and cash flow precision.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee project budgets and schedules, ensuring forecasts align with actual results.
  • Lead analyses of budget and schedule variances, identify root causes, and drive necessary corrective actions.
  • Manage costs through strategic planning, vendor negotiations, resource optimization, and proactive risk management.

Team Leadership & Development :

  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of project managers and support staff, ensuring high performance and accountability.
  • Facilitate the adoption of innovative processes and tools to enhance project delivery.
  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging lessons learned to enhance project execution methodologies.
  • Project Delivery :

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to create and manage comprehensive project schedules and milestones.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, troubleshoot challenges, and dismantle barriers to timely, budget-compliant delivery.
  • Oversee stakeholder communication, providing consistent and transparent updates to customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and industry regulations and best practices.
  • Financial Reporting & Documentation :

  • Create and manage project cash flow forecasts and milestone payment schedules, in alignment with funding program requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project information in our project management software.
  • Ensure documentation is thoroughly organized and accessible throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Analyze project financial health, providing actionable insights to optimize outcomes.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement :

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company, customers, and vendors, attentively addressing inquiries and concerns.
  • Champion customer satisfaction by ensuring high-quality project outcomes.
  • Qualifications

    Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 7-10 years of project management experience in the construction or energy sectors.
  • Expertise in construction best practices, project management methodologies, and financial management principles.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale construction projects focused on schedule and budget performance.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, particularly in variance analysis and risk management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • Preferred :

  • Experience with Smartsheet and / or SiteTracker.
  • Background in renewable energy, distributed generation, or EV charging infrastructure projects.
  • History of implementing process improvements and driving organizational change.
  • Hands-on experience with managing and optimizing project cash flow forecasts.
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to review technical deliverables.
