Culinary Arts Instructor (Summer)

Are you passionate about teaching and cooking? The J's new culinary studio is looking for a Summer Culinary Instructor to help cultivate culinary curiosity in our young chefs. Our hands-on kitchen is the destination for culinary classes and events for the Jewish community and Southwest Houston. If you’re excited about working with children and sharing the joy of cooking, this is the perfect opportunity!

Position: Kid Instructor (Pastry & Cuisine)
Dates: May 27th – August 1st (Seasonal Position)
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday | 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM (prep time not included)
Additional Opportunities: Sundays & weekday evenings for adult classes, including assisting birthday parties

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assist instructors and students. Chefs and Assistants will greet participants, making them feel welcomed.

2. Assuring class is set up and ready with all need ingredients and equipment being used 30-45 minutes prior to class start.

3. Assist in preparing menu items, fresh ingredients, setting up cooking stations.

4. Assist in guiding students through the cooking class lesson on how to prepare the recipe, ensuring a smooth and hands-on learning experience.

5. Explain the ingredients utilized, demonstrate safety measures and cooking techniques.

6. Keep all equipment clean and sanitize. Food labeled and stored properly.

7. Ensure the class runs smoothly, engaging in a fun learning environment, along with teaching social skills, such as teamwork, communication, following directions, and manners.

Passion for food and kids, Adaptable, Dependable, Responsible, Excellent organization skills, and a Welcoming demeanor. Some Culinary experience, food and teaching experience are ideal. Part-time position with flexible hours.
