Description
Position Hours: 20 hrs/wk, 8:15am – 12:15pm (with the possibility of increased hours)
- Set up an appropriate environment for classes daily
- Play guitar and/or keyboard and lead children in singing
- Travel to the West Houston campus once a week
- Lead music at Shabbat services on Fridays
- Lead music at Havdalah on Mondays
- Introduce children to musical instruments
- Introduce rhythm and other fundamental music concepts such as tone and pitch
- Follow Jewish holiday schedules and enhance children's understanding of holidays through music
- Create weekly posts on communication app for families
- Help with special events at the school
- Maintain music materials
- Treat all children, parents and staff with dignity and respect.
- Abide by the ERJCC Personnel Policies.
- Follow the guidelines stated in any Handbooks, Minimum Standards of the TDFPS and any other administrative directives.
- Maintain current certification in Pediatric First Aid and CPR of infants and children.
- Obtain current assessments of health and ability for working with young children upon hire and every year thereafter.
- Work as a supportive team member with the classroom teaching teams.
- Participation in a professional organization is encouraged as well as community involvement as a representative of the ERJCC.
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and CDA, meet all minimum standards as required by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS). Must be in good health to work with young children and able to physically lift a child under 40 pounds.
