Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Aide to join our team and provide exceptional spiritual, emotional, social and recreational needs to all Evenglow Senior Living residents. The Activity Aide will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by facilitating engaging activities, promoting social interaction, and ensuring a supportive environment. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about senior care, memory care, and recreational therapy. All activities are carried out in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, as well as all Evenglow Senior Living policies and procedures. care to seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Provides direction for recreational, social, and spiritual activities for the facility residents.
- Assist in planning and implementing recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Document and maintain accurate activity participation records.
- Choose specific activities for each resident based on the input from the resident and/or resident's representative.
- Maintains programs designed to make life more meaningful, to stimulate and support physical and mental capabilities to the fullest extent and to enable the resident to maintain the highest attainable social, physical, and emotional functioning.
- Assists with bus outing activities and gets consents from residents and relatives.
- Organize and implement small and large group activities.
- Makes room visits, providing supplies for activities.
- Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity.
- Kepp current tracking of all residents attending activities.
- Participates in holiday parties and special events.
- Assists with transporting residents to and from activities.
- Carries out 1:1 activities as assigned.
- Have effective problem-solving solutions and skills.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
- Assist with decorating the facility with seasonal decorations.
- Assist residents to display calendars, pictures, cards or other mementos in their rooms.
- Deliver and read mail as needed.
- Attend mandatory facility in-services.
- Engage residents in meaningful conversations and activities to promote socialization and emotional well-being.
- Support residents with memory care needs, ensuring their comfort and safety during activities.
- Collaborate with the care team to create individualized activity plans that align with each resident's preferences.
- Provide assistance to residents during group activities, ensuring their participation and enjoyment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents.
- Document participation in activities and report any changes in resident behavior or condition to the appropriate staff members.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to assist individuals with varying needs, including those with disabilities.
- Patience and adaptability when working with diverse populations in a home community care setting.
Physical Demands
- Occassionally bends/stoops, squats, reaches above the shoulders, and kneels.
- Occasionally lifts 11-50 pounds and carries 11-24 pounds.
- Frequesntly pushes/pulls, lifts and carries up to 10 pounds.
- Wals or stands 2 to 3 hours of the 8 hour workday.
- Possess good hand-eye coordination.
- Possess necessary skills to continuously comprehend and communicate with residents and staff and develop written policies and procedures.
- Concentrates on moderate and/or fine detail with frequent interruptions necessary to perform a variety of functions.
- Remembers multiple messages, information and assignments from 8 hours to long periods of time given to self and others.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to remain calm under stress.
--May be exposed to conditions that require the use of adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
