Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to join our legal team. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills, provide administrative support to our legal team, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations in a fast-paced legal environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Draft and proof a variety of legal documents, including but not limited to affidavits, real estate, entity formation, discovery, estate planning, probate, summons, subpoenas, and motion documents
- Organize, update, and maintain attorney calendars
- Organize, update, and maintain client files
- Prepare and organize exhibits
- Maintain direct contact with clients and foster positive client relationships
- Coordinate scheduling with clients, courts, and opposing parties
- Perform legal research, real estate record, and business record searches
- Other duties as assigned by attorneys
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
- 60 wpm
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple schedules
- Demonstrated ability to follow directions and follow through on assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- At least ONE of the following:
o Experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a law firm; OR
o Exceptional academic performance in a relevant degree program; OR
o Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in an office setting and learn quickly
Preferred Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Two years of experience in the legal services industry
- Experience drafting legal documents, including litigation, business, and real estate documents
- Experience researching court records, real estate records, and business records
- Paralegal certificate or relevant bachelor’s degree
- Experience communicating directly with court administration and court staff
- Strong writing and editing skills
