Position Summary
The Off-Duty Peace Officer is responsible for maintaining public safety and enforcing laws while working in a part-time capacity outside of regular duty hours. This role involves providing security, conducting patrols, and responding to incidents in a business setting.
Key Duties:
- Patrol and Observe: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to deter criminal activity and ensure the safety of individuals and property.
- Enforcement of Laws: Enforce local, state, and federal laws, as well as organizational policies, while maintaining professionalism and integrity.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, or calls for assistance, providing appropriate action and support as needed.
- Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports on incidents, observations, and activities during shifts, ensuring accurate documentation for future reference.
- Community Interaction: Engage with community members, businesses, and event organizers to promote safety and provide assistance as necessary.
- Conflict Resolution: Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage and resolve conflicts effectively, ensuring the safety of all parties involved.
- Collaboration: Work in conjunction with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary to ensure a coordinated response to incidents.
- Maintain Equipment: Ensure that all equipment and tools are in good working condition and report any issues promptly.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in law enforcement or public safety required.
- Must be a certified peace officer with a valid license to practice law enforcement.
- Prior law enforcement experience is required; experience in security or related fields is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to remain calm under pressure; problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
- Must be able to pass a physical fitness assessment; ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly in various situations.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible hours, including nights and weekends, depending on assignment.
