Description
The Transportation and Warehouse Assistant is a new position that will support the existing warehouse team in our Elk Grove Village location. In this role, the Assistant will work with the shared services, production, and account teams to support quality and efficiency for all Chicago based clients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide effective stocking, organizing, and management of equipment, inventory, and vehicles
- Assist with loading/unloading of equipment and trucks
- Support warehouse and grounds maintenance
- Capable of making local fleet moves (may require use of trailer and/or box truck)
- Ability to be on-site for events including set-up/teardown
- Enforce D.O.T compliance including maintenance, inspections, and paperwork
- Maintain a safe work environment by implementing/enforcing standards and procedures
- Willingness to obtain proper license to operate entry level commercial vehicles
Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with at least a Class C classification (must be able to obtain within 90 days)*
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in warehouse or fleet management
- Event production knowledge
- Professional demeanor and previous client-management experience
- Knowledge of inventory systems
- Trailer and D.O.T experience is a plus
Skills:
- Operational knowledge of in-house equipment
- Ability to drive a forklift, box truck and small trailer
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks quickly and on a last-minute basis
- Self-driven with the capability of being able to take initiative without constant supervision
- Ability to lift heavy items (100lbs )
- General carpentry, mechanic, and handyman skills
- Knowledge of proper loading techniques
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
Schedule:
- Must have a flexible schedule
- Nights and weekends may be required depending on event schedules
* Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and driving test as required by company policy
