Medication Services Manager
Summary: Ever Well Health is searching for a caring, compassionate Medication Services Manager with behavioral health experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will reflect our core mission and will focus on key elements of our Residential Program across the Foothills Region. This is a full-time position based in Visalia/Fresno/Terra Bella, CA.
Overview: Under general direction, provides leadership and coordination of targeted medication management and psychiatric rehabilitation services to individuals with persistent mental illness. Utilizing medical knowledge and clinical judgment assures the quality, timeliness, and appropriateness of medication services. Reviews and maintains objectives and standards across medication service line.
Formulates, trains, and supervises medication room personnel to provide optimum care, prevent medication errors, and enhance integrated health and wellness of residents.
Typically, these functions are enhanced by multiple years providing advanced medication services in licensed care settings including knowledge of psychotropic medication prescribing practices, delivery routes and side effects. This service line manager possesses skills to first articulate, then communicate and finally address resident and customer concerns while maintaining clear boundaries and following established principles and guidelines. An employee in this class must also possess the ability to recognize and practice within defined scope, be detail oriented and reliably follow through on care issues and quality improvement projects.

Duties and Responsibilities (“What you will do”)
1. Develops and maintains nursing objectives with high standards for the facility through policies and procedures, inspections, education, and overall administration and supervision of resident care rendered.
2. Oversees and/or reviews intake paperwork for all new admissions; confirms medication orders and allergies and develops and updates restricted health care plans. *
3. Executes resident care responsibilities consistently in the absence of physician, perform staff duties whenever and wherever required, and respond to on-call emergencies in a prompt manner. *
4. Under supervision and within scope of practice, oversees and assists in the coordination and completion of document requests (Conservatorship LPS Declarations, subpoenas for medical records, specialty referrals, SSI/SSP, etc.) for county customers, specialty providers, Superior
Courts, and SSA.
5. Meets with medication, residential and program supervisors/managers as needed for consultation regarding resident’s progress, health care plan and service plan.
6. Maintains high standard of care in the medication rooms through implementation of procedures, regular inspections, staff education, and overall administration and supervision of resident care.
7. Ensures all medication rooms are clean, orderly, and safe; and medications (OTC, prescribed and controlled) are safely stored, and provided to residents under physician orders as prescribed. *
8. Performs resident care within their scope of practice under the direction and/or in the absence of physician, performs staff duties whenever and wherever required, and responds to on-call emergencies in a prompt manner. *
9. Establishes procedures for the administration and control of resident, OTC, and expired medications pursuant to Title XXII. Orders medications as needed to ensure adequate supplies are available to meet resident prescribed needs including PRN medications. *

11. Provides clinical supervision and direct care services as assigned and within scope of practice. *
12. Provides assessment and intervention in response to resident crisis, including follow up, using appropriate consultation. *
13. Develops and provides medication services training consistent with agency standards, practices and policies to medication room staff and interns. *
14. Completes clinical records and other required documentation in accordance with agency, customer, and regulatory requirements, utilizing paper or computer technology as required. *
15. Assists in the establishment of an emergency disaster and fire safety program in cooperation with administration to assure proper emergency handling of residents, personnel, and visitors within the facility.
16. Advises the executive team on medication services and resident care, prepares, and submits reports as required, and maintains related KPIs as directed. *
17. Promotes public relations and maintains liaison with other health care facilities, hospitals, and the community.
18. Plans, organizes, and directs effective communication to ensure residents receive timely access to primary care, as well as vision, podiatry, and dental services. *
19. Performs emergency first aid and CPR in emergency situations as needed. Participates in emergency drills and follows emergency procedures. Understands and performs duties as a mandated abuse reporter. *
20. Participates in after hour rotation, as assigned.
21. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED - EDUCATION & SKILLS
- A minimum of a two-year degree in a closely related field; four-year degree in Health Care
Administration preferred. Required education may be substituted year for year of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience.
- At least two years of demonstrated work experience at a facility licensed by the Department of
Social Service California Community Care Licensing Program (CCL) required.
- Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Having additional experience working with individuals who have or may face significant mental or emotional issues is also preferred.
- Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Has experience with exercising good judgment and acts calmly in emergency situations; emergency management or crisis intervention experience preferred.
- Knowledge of typical business software and demonstrated skill using cloud-based applications.

REQUIREMENTS – PHYSICAL
- Ability to Pass an Employment Physical
- Current TB Test (No negative results within the last 12 months).
- Must be physically able to assist residents and/or staff in the evacuation of program facilities in emergency situations. Must administer first aid in an emergency.
- Walking, Sitting, Pinching and Finger Flexion, and Visual/Auditory Acuity are required constantly
(up to 2/3 of the workday).
- Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Bending, Stooping, Crouching, Kneeling and Twisting are required occasionally (up to 1/3 of the workday).
