Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer develops new products, then plans and directs projects to bring them to full production. Provides technical support (as needed) for existing product lines in the areas of design improvements, manufacturability, testing, agency compliance and applications. Also investigates competitive products, determines appropriate market opportunities, and presents specific products and product areas for design.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
· With the Electrical Engineering Supervisor, develop and manage the design and other processes used within the section to maximize design quality, minimize the overall time to market and control costs. Develops and oversees product specifications and related documentation.
· Prepare engineering specifications and requirements for new products to facilitate the creation of new products that will result in new markets being opened and increased sales.
· Conduct and/or actively participate in design reviews during the development phase. Recommends changes where advisable to minimize costs, ensure manufacturability and to conform to existing production capabilities.
· Responsible for the continuous improvement of existing products. Conduct research and development activities related to new design, manufacturing, testing, and agency compliance.
· Provide technical support for customer applications, and field problems with new designs. Responsible for analysis and evaluation of failure data and preparation of reports with recommendations. Implement action plans for corrective and preventative measures.
· Provide hardware, software and technical support as requested to manufacturing engineering for design, development and maintenance of production automation and equipment.
· Maintain up-to-date skills in electronic design methods and technologies in order to maintain world class design standards within the business.
· Execute various special projects as assigned by the Electrical Engineering Supervisor. Perform all other various duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements / Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
· Experience in supporting electronic manufacturing operations
· Must be able to work without close supervision in a self-directed environment across multiple disciplines
· Ability to work systematically in a fast-paced, repetitive environment
· Must have good oral and written communication skills and have an above-average ability to comprehend and follow detailed procedures and instructions
· Demonstrable patience and ability to interact well with others while under pressure
· Above-average computer skills
· Strong skill set in teamwork, collaboration and participation in cross-functional teams
