Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY

Prepare various client and corporate tax reporting. Proactively manage the client tax reporting process.

1. Record client activity in the InnoTrust accounting system via system workflows and upon request.
2. Perform daily and monthly reconciliations for a variety of bank and internal accounts.
3. Provide back-up coverage for settlements, InnoTrust disbursement processing, and other department duties.  
4. Manage client tax reporting within Everence Foundation and Everence Trust Company. 
5. Prepare trust tax returns as well as perform in-depth and cursory reviews of returns as prepared by internal staff and through an outsourced relationship with a tax vendor. Perform applicable maintenance throughout the year in the OneSource Trust Tax system.
6. Coordinate federal and state corporate tax return (1120 and 1165) preparation by external public accounting firm. Compile supporting documentation as requested. Prepare certain corporate state tax forms. 
7. Prepare supporting documentation for the preparation of forms 990 and 990-T by external public accounting for four not-for-profit entities.
8. Prepare form 5500 for several small employer plans.    
9. Perform other accounting services as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or Business or equivalent experience

Experience: 

1. One year of accounting experience is required, with an emphasis on tax accounting
2. Prior tax experience in public accounting or with a financial services firm is a plus

Skills and Abilities:

1. Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills are required
2. Knowledge of computer accounting systems, query, and spreadsheet tools required
3. Advanced use of Microsoft Excel preferred
4. Prior experience with OneSource Trust Tax is helpful
5. The ability to communicate effectively and work as a team
6. Comfortable working independently on a fixed work timeline
7. Respect and promote the mission of Everence
